ISSUES WE ARE FIGHTING  FOR

"I come from a proud, hardworking family that has as always been about everyone having their fair share for as long as I can remember. I want to work for you. We need to create more living wage jobs, improve our schools, pay our teachers and make healthcare accessible and affordable, a top priority. With nearly a decade of government experience in working with schools and communities, I know what it takes to find solutions, navigate the complicated governmental agencies, and get things done."
LIST OF ISSUES
Education

Democrats know that every child, no matter who they are , how much their families earn, or where they live, should have the access to a high quality education, from preschool through high school and beyond.

Education is the cornerstone of success. I want to make sure schools get the appropriate funding to prevent an increase in class size. Let's cut down on unnecessary testing and allow

teachers to focus more on curriculum and spend more time educating our students.

Lastly, our educators play a major role in giving our children the best chances for bright futures. Teachers and school personnel deserve resources, wages, and benefits that will allow them to thrive and continue providing our children with the best education possible. I MUST and I WILL advocate on behalf of our educators and school personnel to ensure that they get the compensation that they deserve.

Infrastructure

Our nation’s infrastructure problems are solvable if we have leadership and commit to making good ideas a reality. Raising the grades on our infrastructure will require that we seek and adopt a wide range of solutions.

While the nation’s infrastructure earned a “D+” in the 2017 Infrastructure Report Card, South Carolina faces infrastructure challenges of its own. For example, driving on roads in need of repair in South Carolina costs each driver $557 per year, and 9.9% of bridges are rated structurally deficient. Drinking water needs in South Carolina are an estimated $833 million. 359 dams are considered to be high-hazard potential. The state’s schools have an estimated capital expenditure gap of $90 million. This deteriorating infrastructure impedes South Carolina’s ability to compete in an increasingly global marketplace. Success in a 21st century economy requires serious, sustained leadership on infrastructure investment at all levels of government. Delaying these investments only escalates the cost and risks of an aging infrastructure system, an option that the country, South Carolina, and families can no longer afford.

Healthcare

No South Carolinian should have to face financial hardship

because they fall ill or get injured. No one should have to choose between taking their child to a doctor and paying the rent.

I believe in making quality, affordable health care available to all South Carolinians and giving coverage to people with pre-existing medical condition and not capping or canceling coverage, or charging women more due simply to gender.

Accessible and affordable healthcare is what we need and it's what I'm fighting for in this election.

Veterans

Many of my friends, family members, and acquaintances have dedicated their lives to serving in the military. I have an incredible amount of respect for anyone who is currently serving, served in the past, or is planning on serving in the military in the future.

It is so important that our veterans get the services and assistance that they need and deserve. I will personally work for all veterans to ensure that they are getting the medical and mental health assistance that they need.

This means holding our veteran’s offices and facilities accountable for their actions while also promoting efficient and effective care for all of our respected veterans who have so honorably served our country.

Environment

South Carolina is home to so many unique natural wonders and environmental features. It is a huge priority of mine to protect our open spaces and parks in order to make sure that we always have safe trails, camp sites, and recreational places for our residents and tourists. No industry should be able to impose dangerous or harmful pollution on our communities or environment. I will work to make sure that we do not damage our environmental habitats. A focus on clean and renewable energy is a great way for South Carolina to ensure that we are on the forefront of a viable, booming, and profitable new era of energy production and usage. I will work hard to represent the interest of my constituents in SC House District 63 by creating transparency and avenues for community input when it comes to fracking, energy production, and climate change.
